Rain Barrel team presents strategy to end violence against children and unnecessary family separation in Cambodia

Rain Barrel Associates Ami Sengupta and Paula Claycomb designed and co-facilitated meetings in Phnom Penh to conclude a several month consultancy with the UNICEF Country Office in Cambodia. The overall task was to develop a multi-year Communication for Development (C4D) strategy to end violence against children and unnecessary family separation. Other team members were Suruchi Sood, Carmen Cronin, Barbara Kolucki and Tan Try. The April 2017 meetings were to present the total package and consult with Government, NGO and other UN partners on the strategy, its monitoring and evaluation framework and its implementation work plan. A separate day-long orientation session on Communication for Development was also led by the RBC team.  Over 65 participants attended the C4D strategy validation meeting, with almost 30 staying on for the second day’s orientation. The Government’s commitment to ending violence against children and unnecessary family separation is strong and we look forward to the adoption of this strategy, the first of its kind in the East Asia region.
