Firdaus Kharas

 

Firdaus Kharas has been creating social and behaviour change communications for the past 28 years. A specialist in short-form videos and documentaries, he is best known for his animation.  His 80 media series have been created for international organizations like UNICEF and the IRC, governments, and universities.

He is experienced in researching, designing, directing, producing, versioning and distributing specialized media that have been used in 198 countries and exist in over 500 language versions.  He is the recipient of 125 awards and recognitions for his work, and he was appointed an Officer of the Order of Canada in 2023.

Firdaus, born in India, is a Canadian.  He has travelled to 150 countries and lived in Canada, India, Switzerland and the United States.  In addition to honorary doctorates, he has nine in-person degrees and certificates from eight universities.
