Niloufar Pourzand

Niloufar Pourzand is an international development consultant with a focus on children, women, education and refugee rights. She has worked with UNICEF for over three decades in Iran, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Eastern Caribbean, Indonesia and India, applying her expertise in management, child protection, gender equality, education, social policy, monitoring and evaluation, results-based programming and capacity-building. 

Most recently, Niloufar has worked with UNICEF’s Regional Office in the Middle East and North Africa and the Bangladesh Country Office. She remains engaged with various rights-based and civil society organizations in Canada and internationally. With a PhD in sociology from the University of Greenwich, UK, Niloufar also teaches courses in International Development Studies at York University as well as in Critical Development Studies at the University of Toronto. An Iranian-Canadian, she resides in Toronto, Canada.
