Sumithra is a senior child rights and humanitarian professional with over two decades of experience working at global, regional and national levels. She has extensive expertise in programme and organisational design as well as management, strategic planning, policy advocacy, community engagement, reporting, monitoring and evaluation and resource mobilisation.

Sumithra has worked in humanitarian response and recovery in fragile states such as Mozambique, DPR Korea, Sri Lanka, Myanmar and Sierra Leone. She is familiar with UN humanitarian coordination systems where she has designed, facilitated, and led numerous trainings, mentoring, and learning initiatives.

Sumithra, who has a MSc. in Social Policy and Planning in Developing Countries and a BA in International Development, is an Australian national, residing in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.
