Tani Ruiz is a writer and editor specializing in international development and humanitarian emergencies. As a Communications Specialist for the UNICEF regional office in Bangkok, she helped conceptualize and implement advocacy strategies in key programme areas. Tani also played a role in UNICEF’s emergency communications outreach in Asia and the Pacific in the wake of the 2004 Asian tsunami. She is a consultant with UNIDO and has edited a wide range of materials for the International Labour Organization.

 Tani’s grounding lies in investigative journalism, with a decade-long career embracing posts with Reuters in Hong Kong and Agence France Presse in Geneva, where she was English language correspondent.

Tani has a BA in Russian from New York University and a MIA from Columbia University. She studied Mandarin at the Mandarin Training Centre in Taipei and is fluent in French. Now living in Alicante, Spain, Tani is honing her Spanish.
